The ask
Recurring volumetric survey of an aggregate yard to reconcile monthly stockpile inventory against truck-scale production numbers.
How I approached it
Planned fixed flight lines to match each month’s capture so the orthos register cleanly against each other. Six ground control points distributed across the yard on permanent targets. RTK base-rover used to measure each GCP to survey-grade accuracy before every flight.
Deliverables
Ortho, DSM, contours, and a per-stockpile volumetric report delivered within 48 hours of each flight.
Outcome
Across six months, stockpile volumes computed from drone data matched truck-scale production to within 2%. The client uses the recurring surveys to catch discrepancies in loader operator reports.
