Skyland Imaging

About

I’m Ben. I fly drones and process survey data.

I grew up around mapping. I went to COGS in Nova Scotia for a Survey Technician certificate and a Geomatics Engineering Technology diploma, and I’ve been working with coordinates, CRSs, and point clouds ever since. I’m an AScT with ASTTBC — a working member in good standing since 2019.

Skyland Imaging Ltd. is my company. I fly a DJI M3E with RTK, measure ground control with a pair of Emlid Reach RS3 receivers, and process imagery into orthos, DSMs, contours, and meshes for clients who need survey-grade output — not pretty photos.

The thing that separates me from a hobby pilot with a drone is boring and specific: I place ground control. I measure checkpoints. I report residuals. You get a deliverable that stands up under scrutiny, with the numbers to back it up.

Based in the north, used to the weather

I’m based in Prince George, BC. Most of my work is within a few hours’ drive; for the rest, travel is quoted separately. Northern BC is my backyard — I know how to plan a flight window around the weather we actually get here.

How I operate

All flights are planned missions on defined project sites, conducted under my Transport Canada Level 1 Complex Pilot Certificate and Skyland Imaging’s RPOC. I carry $1,000,000 commercial general liability. I don’t overpromise and I don’t fly work I shouldn’t.
